1. Information We Collect and Cloud Sync

Scriben is designed as a local-first application. By default, all documents created within Scriben are stored locally on your device within your browser's persistent database.

If you choose to enable the optional **Secure Sync** feature, Scriben will connect to your personal **Filen** account to sync your documents. When sync is active, your document content is fully encrypted client-side using the Filen SDK before being transmitted. We do not host, store, or have any access to your documents, password, master keys, or account details on our own servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

Because all data remains stored either locally on your device or in your personal encrypted cloud storage at Filen, we do not access, process, or use your document contents for any purpose.

3. Third-Party Services

To enable document sync and PDF export features, Scriben uses third-party libraries and SDKs (including the Filen SDK and PouchDB) operating entirely within your browser environment. Your interactions and data stored on Filen are governed by Filen's privacy terms.
